Job summary

Dow Jones is seeking a Newsletter Writer/Editor for MarketWatch’s growing portfolio, including flagship products. You will craft, edit and produce engaging financial newsletters, shaping distinctive voices and formats for audiences across our newsroom.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in journalism, newsletters, or digital media.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with newsletter experience.
  • Strong editorial judgment to identify engaging stories for habits.
  • Comfort using audience data and reader feedback for decisions.
  • Ability to translate complex financial topics for broad readers.
  • Familiarity with newsletter platforms and engagement tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple newsletters in a fast-paced newsroom.

About The Role:

The Newsletter Writer/Editor write, edit and help produce newsletters across MarketWatch’s growing portfolio, including flagship products such as Don’t Short Yourself and Need to Know . They will play a central role in shaping that future - helping MarketWatch grow its audience, deepen reader engagement and create new opportunities for journalism to connect with readers beyond the homepage.

You Will:
  • Write, edit and help produce newsletters across MarketWatch’s growing portfolio, including flagship products such as Don’t Short Yourself and Need to Know .

  • Help develop distinctive voices, formats and editorial approaches for individual newsletters.

  • Bring a conversational, personality-driven approach to financial journalism and help turn MarketWatch reporting into compelling newsletter experiences.

You Have:
  • 5+ years of experience in journalism, newsletters, or digital media or a related field.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience producing newsletters or other audience-focused journalism.

  • Strong editorial judgment and an instinct for identifying stories and ideas that can build habits and deepen reader engagement.

  • Comfort using audience data and reader feedback to inform editorial decisions.

  • Ability to make complex financial and economic subjects accessible, useful and engaging for a broad audience.

  • Familiarity with newsletter platforms and audience-engagement tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple newsletters and priorities in a fast-moving newsroom.
