WHIZ-TV in Ohio is seeking a full-time News Reporter to start a career in television news. Located about an hour east of Columbus, WHIZ offers a small-market training ground for writing, reporting, and storytelling while building a solid on-air presence.

The role includes cross-training to anchor on one of our newscasts, covering morning and evening blocks and contributing stories for 6am, 5pm, 6pm and 11pm shows. We emphasize developing strong reporting instincts in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Write, report, and develop compelling community-focused stories for multiple platforms.
• Participate in cross-training to anchor on-air newscasts across the lineup.
• Cover morning and evening blocks, contributing breaking news and enterprise stories.

Job description

WHIZ-TV has an upcoming opening for a full time News Reporter who is looking to get their start in the television news industry. WHIZ is a Marquee Broadcasting station that’s located just an hour east of Columbus, Ohio and just over two hours from Pittsburgh and Cleveland. We’re a small market training ground for news talent looking to hone their skills writing, reporting, and story telling.

We cross train everyone to be able to anchor on one of our newscasts that include an hour-long morning show that starts at 6 am, 5 pm, 6 pm, and 11 pm shows during the week and an 11 pm on Saturday.
