Job summary

Gray Media’s Hawaii News Now team in Honolulu seeks a Producer to craft energetic newscasts and engaging stories for TV and digital platforms. You will lead on-air and online reporting under tight deadlines, collaborating with anchors, reporters, and photographers.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong writing, newsroom leadership, and the ability to post stories across social channels. DOE; must be flexible with hours.

Qualifications

• Experience with ENPS and Edius editing is a plus.
• Experience producing special reports and breaking news will put a candidate ahead of others.
• College degree in journalism or related experience is required.
• Must be able to work extra hours, holidays, etc.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Produce a variety of newscasts.
• Line producing experience in a competitive market with anchors, LIVE reporters, and directors.
• Strong writing and communication with natural leadership.
• Ability to clarify complex issues for viewers and web users.
• Handle fast-paced, breaking news with LIVE reports and social updates.

Job Summary/Description

KGMB (CBS), KHNL (NBC), and K5 are seeking a Producer. Hawaii News Now is the state's dominant multimedia news organization. This person must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with good organizational skills and must be able to deliver energetic newscasts and engaging stories on all platforms under tight, pressure-packed deadlines. This includes a leading presence on Facebook, Twitter, hawaiinewsnow.com, as well as Instagram.

Duties/Responsibilities

• The successful candidate will also produce a variety of newscasts.
• We are looking for candidates with experience as a line producer in a competitive news market, including working with anchors, LIVE reporters, and directors.
• Candidates must be a great writer and communicator and should have natural leadership skills.
• Candidates must be able to sift through complicated issues and provide clarity to viewers and web users.
• Newscasts are fast-paced, “Happening Now” newscasts, filled with LIVE reports and breaking news from anywhere.
• Adjusting to situations is key, and thinking uniquely about breaking events will continue to move this newscast forward.
• Multitasking is key as you will be juggling many things at once. The successful candidate will be required to post stories to the station website and all social media platforms.
