Job summary
TEGNA Inc. in Des Moines, IA is seeking a News Director to lead WOI KCWI-TV’s multi-platform content operation. You will champion high‑impact storytelling, investigative excellence and audience-focused presentation across broadcast, digital and streaming platforms.
You will guide editorial priorities, develop talent, and use research and analytics to drive decisions, while building a collaborative newsroom culture and delivering strong enterprise reporting for the community.
Qualifications
- College degree in journalism, communications or related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of news experience with leadership.
- Strong writing skills and audience engagement across platforms.
- Experience with shooting, editing and content management systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead all daypart teams to create impactful newscasts across platforms.
- Coach and develop producers and reporters for engaging storytelling.
- Oversee recruitment to build a diverse newsroom reflecting the community.
- Shape daily and long-term coverage priorities in editorial process.
- Use research and analytics to guide editorial decisions and strategy.
- Collaborate with leaders to maximize audience reach and impact.
