Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate loans in an assigned metropolitan territory, take applications, and conduct preliminary underwriting reviews for approval.

You will spend at least 50% of your time away from U.S. Bank locations, with three or more days on-site at a bank location. You will help gather documents, coordinate processing, and support clients through closing processes.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Three or more years of Mortgage, Sales, or Real Estate experience.
  • NMLS registration under the S.A.F.E. Act and Regulation Z, with ongoing compliance.
  • Must be able to meet duties outside regular business, including 2+ hours driving per week.

Job Description

Originates mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory. Takes applications, conducts preliminary underwriting reviews, submits loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval. Follows-up to ensure that documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured in a timely manner from appropriate sources. Incumbents are customarily and regularly engaged in making and soliciting loan sales and conducting sales-related activities away from U.S. Bank locations. Incumbents are expected to spend at least 50% of their time conducting their activities away from U.S. Bank locations.

Required Qualifications
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Three or more years of Mortgage, Sales, or Real Estate experience
  • National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z and ongoing compliance with all legal or regulatory registration requirements, including, but not limited to maintaining a satisfactory criminal and credit record
  • Must be able to meet the applicable requirement of performing their duties outside of their regular place of business. This position also requires 2 or more hours of driving per week.
Desired Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
  • Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors, as gained through on the job training or some real estate brokerage experience
  • Familiar with local, state and national laws (e.g. zoning ordinances, Truth-in Lending, RESPA, energy audit requirements, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to analyze financial information
  • Sales oriented
  • Established referral base within assigned market preferred
  • 2+ years of proven success in mortgage loan origination, consistently meeting or exceeding production goals.
Location expectations

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $20.00 - $20.00
