Overview
We are looking to develop the next generation of retail leadership at Sprouts Farmers Market - a Fortune 500 company and one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States. This program focuses on the development of Assistant Store Managers (ASM), who are key in assisting with the efficient and profitable operations of the store. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assumes complete responsibility for all phases of store operations.
Program Overview
- Program Start Date: January 2026 & June 2026
- Hiring locations: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee, Utah & Virginia (actual store locations to be determined)
- Eligibility: You are within 6 months of graduation from a full-time bachelors or masters degree program
- January class graduation requirement: May 2025 - December 2025
- June class graduation requirement: December 2025 - May 2026
- Onboarding process: 10 weeks of in-store leadership and department specific training followed by 10 weeks of on-the-job shadowing

Responsibilities
The Assistant Store Manager must be familiar with all departments and department-related activities throughout the store, and assists the Store Manager in ensuring cleanliness, safety and a well-stocked inventory. The Assistant Store Manager also assists with forecasts, schedules, and monitors labor to be consistent with store sales and productivity guidelines and wage budgets; and creates action plans to address cost control issues. This position directs, oversees, and evaluates the training of all perishable department Team Members in order to reduce and control turnover, promote more efficient operations and to provide better control over labor costs. Developing and maintaining communication with the other departments and Store Manager in the store is key to executing merchandising plans which help meet the financial objectives of the store.
Qualifications
- Obtain or be in pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree (targeting May 2025 through May 2026 graduates)
- Have retail experience or project exposure to the retail industry
- Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays, as well as flexibility with store assignments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to give direction, while participating in a team environment
- Outgoing and friendly demeanor with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers in an engaging manner
- Ability to manage department staff including interviewing, hiring, training and development, delivering on-time performance appraisals, providing feedback, scheduling, counseling and terminating
- Proven leadership ability to build, motivate and maintain staff, with working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals
- Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to coordinate sales promotion activities and supervise merchandise displays and advertising copy
- Responsible for compliance ensuring dates on merchandise are checked and expired items are pulled in accordance with Sprouts procedures
- Ability to deal with emergencies and incidents; write reports for accidents or incidents and follow company procedures
- Maintain Food Safety certification and ensure compliance with federal, state and company regulations for labor, health, safety and sanitation
- Strong organization and planning skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., and to bend, reach, kneel, squat and stand for long periods
