Job summary

WeRide.ai is seeking a student-senior role to contribute to perception and autonomous driving research. You will develop real-time CV/ML models, build data pipelines for labeling, training, and evaluation, and advance perception algorithms with multi-modal sensor fusion.

The position emphasizes cutting-edge perception work, state-of-the-art LLM/VLM ideas, and collaboration with the AI team to push autonomous driving capabilities forward.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a CS/Robotics degree with expected graduation between Dec 2026 and Jun 2027.
• Strong programming experience in C++ or Python.
• Experience in machine learning, robotics, computer vision, data mining, or LiDAR.
• Solid foundation in data structures, 3D geometry, and advanced algorithms.
• Foundational robotics knowledge including state estimation, 3D reconstruction, and visual odometry.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy perception and deep learning models for real-time integration into the autonomous driving system.
• Create and optimize data pipelines for data mining, labeling, training, and evaluation for onboard development.
• Conduct advanced research in perception algorithms addressing object detection, segmentation, road understanding, and motion prediction.

What you will do:

• Team Introduction:

The AI team is responsible for developing CV/ML algorithms to understand the surroundings of ego vehicles in real time , including obstacle detection, online mapping, and scene understanding. The perception system takes inputs from multiple sensors across time, and outputs various obstacle-level and scene-level understandings for downstream modules such as prediction and planning, etc. In the AI team, you will:

• Develop and deploy cutting-edge perception and deep learning models, including computer vision models, vision-language and large language models (VLMs and LLMs), for real-time integration into our system.
• Create and optimize data pipelines for data mining, labeling, training, and evaluation, supporting comprehensive onboard development.
• Conduct advanced research in perception algorithms to address complex, real-world scenarios, focusing on areas like object detection, segmentation, road understanding, and motion prediction.
• Leverage multi-modal sensor fusion techniques to build robust architectures tailored for autonomous driving.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field, with an expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027.
• Strong programming experience in C++ or Python.
• Experienced in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, robotics, computer vision, data mining, LiDAR.
• Knowledgeable in data structures, 3D geometry, and advanced algorithms.
• Solid foundation in core robotics principles, including state estimation, 3D reconstruction, and visual odometry.
• Excellent software and computing fundamentals.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) or Vision Language Models (VLM)

$120,000 - $165,000 a year

Your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $120,000 - $165,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
