Mercy Hospital St. Louis is seeking an experienced Critical Care Stepdown RN to provide intermediate‑care nursing for patients transitioning from ICU to Med/Surg. You will deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based care, monitor complex conditions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
  • Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
  • Required: BLS; ACLS/NIHSS/PCCN or other stepdown certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality care for intermediate‑acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence‑based practices.
  • Perform accurate hand‑offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post‑ICU), and support recovery.
  • Participate in huddles, shared governance, and unit‑based quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
Education

Licensure
  • Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
Certifications
  • Required: BLS (American Heart Association).
  • Preferred: ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN, or other Stepdown‑related certifications.
