Job summary

UNC Health in Clayton, NC is seeking a Clinical Nurse for the Obstetrics unit. The role provides care to the mother/baby dyad on a 25-bed unit across two campuses, with a focus on breastfeeding support and postpartum/newborn care.

Start dates are June 2027 to August 2027, depending on graduation and NCLEX dates. The candidate will coordinate and deliver nursing care using the nursing process in a hospital setting, reporting to Nurse Manager/Director.

Qualifications

• Graduation from school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state where care is provided.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Education - Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
• Evaluation of Care - Identifies expected patient outcomes and participates in evaluation of patient care.
• Implementation - Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems and organizes care per patient needs.
• Leadership - Supports team goals and promotes collaboration and safe, cost-effective care.
• Patient Assessment - Recognizes data to determine priorities and develops patient-family relationships.
• Planning - Collaborates to update the plan of care and addresses cultural/ethnic planning considerations.
• Research - Reads journals and brings ideas for assessment of applicability.
