Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• 0 to 2 years occupational therapist experience.
• Licensed Occupational Therapist - MN or WI required if service area is in respective state at hire.
• BLS certification from AHA, Red Cross, or Allina in-house training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapy to patients and assess needs to generate a therapy diagnosis.
• Design, implement and adjust therapeutic interventions.
• Educate patients and families to establish treatment goals and timelines.
• Coordinate care with an inter-disciplinary team and refer as needed.
• Participate in department performance and process improvement initiatives.

Important Dates:

• New grad Occupational Therapists are encouraged to apply before graduation but can do so after graduation as well (May grads can apply as soon as January; December grads as soon as August).
• We hire and start new graduates year-round depending on available positions.

Work Schedule:

• Various shifts and FTEs may be available.
• You would interview and be considered for all work schedule availability.
• Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours.
• Weekends may be every other or every third.
• FTEs for new graduates are often 0.75-1.0 (60-80 hours per two-week pay period).
• The work schedule details are determined during the job offer and are dependent on what positions are available at that time.

Pay:

• Pay for Occupational Therapist in the hospital follows the union step scale which factors in degree and length of service. The current base rate for non-union positions for a new grad Occupational Therapist is $39.50/hour.
• Specifics around pay, including float differentials will be discussed at the time of the job offer.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides therapy to patients.

  • Generates a therapy diagnosis by gathering patient data and assessing the patient.
  • Designs, implements and modifies therapeutic interventions.
  • Educates patient and family in establishing goals of treatment.
  • Sets improvement levels and determines the amount of time needed to reach that level.
  • Uses re-examination to determine whether predicted outcomes are reasonable modifies as necessary.
  • Accommodates selection of tests and measures and therapeutic interventions to the age of the patient/client.
  • Reports and records service charges.
  • Provides safe patient equipment, ensures personal safety and safe work environment.
  • Selects and delegates appropriate tasks of the plan of care.
  • Supervises therapeutic programs and activities carried out by aides.
  • Coordinates care with inter-disciplinary referrals or referrals to other practitioners.

• Participates in performance improvement and process improvement activities for the department.

  • Supports and promotes new services as requested.
  • Provides ongoing input to enhance the services provided by the department.
  • Develops and promotes new and current programs as requested.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
• 0 to 2 years occupational therapist experience

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Occupational Therapist - MN Department of Health required if service area is in Minnesota upon hire
• Licensed Occupational Therapist - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if service area is in Wisconsin upon hire
• Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
  • Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)
• Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment if providing services for Home Care and Hospice

Physical Demands

Pay Range

Pay Range: $35.61 to $48.81 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
