Job summary

HNTB in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an estimation professional under supervision to perform routine estimating assignments and accurately project costs for upcoming infrastructure projects.

You will analyze bid and design documents to produce labor, material and equipment cost estimates, use estimating software, and support cost studies, cash flows, and contingency analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field, or 4 years of cost-estimating experience.
• Experience with reading design drawings and specifications for takeoffs.
• Familiarity with cost estimating fundamentals and data gathering from subs/vendors.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes bid and design documents to perform quantity takeoffs for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Estimates labor, material and equipment costs based on drawings and specs.
• Collects cost data from functional reps, subs, and vendors.
• Uses estimating software to develop cost estimates with guidance from lead estimators.
• Creates cost models for estimating elements.
• Supports independent cost estimates for change management, claims, and price negotiations.

This opportunity entails being under close supervision, performing routine estimating assignments requiring knowledge of basic estimating principles. Accurately projecting the cost of upcoming projects. Responsible for conceptual, definitive, man-hour, and equipment factored total installed cost estimates. Duties may also include preparing economic cost studies, cash flows, and contingency analyses.

What You’ll Do:

• Analyzes bid and design documents to perform quantity takeoffs to support labor, equipment, and material cost development.
• Estimates labor, material and equipment costs of construction based on design drawings and specifications.
• Collects construction cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Gathers and utilizes industry data/publications for estimating purposes.
• Uses estimating software to support the development of cost estimates with guidance from lead/senior estimators.
• Creates cost models for cost estimating elements.
• Supports the preparation of independent cost estimates as part of change management, claims analysis, and price negotiations.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field, or In lieu of education, 4 years relevant experience with the development of cost estimates

What We Prefer:

College coursework or equivalent technical coursework in design drawings and specifications reading, quantity take offs and cost estimating fundamentals
