Job summary

QBS Controls in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area is seeking a New Construction HVAC Controls Tech to join our team on commercial construction projects. This role focuses on programming DDC controllers, developing graphics, and ensuring successful commissioning of HVAC systems.

You will work with contractors and project leaders to deliver high-quality controls installations and documentation. A minimum of 2 years in building automation and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience with DDC controls or building automation systems.
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment and control strategies.
• Experience programming controllers and creating system graphics.
• Ability to read plans, control drawings, and sequences of operation.
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, or related communication protocols.
• Strong troubleshooting, organization, and communication skills.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Programming DDC controllers according to project plans and sequences of operation.
• Developing and configuring building automation system graphics.
• Completing point-to-point checks on newly installed control systems.
• Starting, tuning, and commissioning HVAC control equipment.
• Performing functional performance testing.
• Assisting third-party commissioning agents during system verification.
• Diagnosing field wiring, installation, communication, and programming problems.
• Coordinating with contractors, technicians, and project leadership.
• Preparing as-built records and other project closeout documentation.
• Confirming completed systems meet project requirements before turnover.
