Job description

Deeplocal is seeking a New Business Strategist with a self-starter attitude, desire to succeed and exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills. This person is Deeplocal's "door opener" and will be responsible for the challenging task of prospecting and procuring new brand clients that align with the strategic growth objectives of the business. Your primary responsibility will be to identify potential customers, understand their unique business needs, and articulate how Deeplocal can address those needs effectively. We are looking for someone who can bring a strategic perspective to early conversations with new clients.

This is also an opportunity to work on high-profile accounts. You will become an expert in the client’s business, with strong knowledge of the competitive landscape and the technology we use to bring brands to life. You will be a champion of Deeplocal’s creative work and have an unshakable “can do” attitude. We’re looking for someone who can bring energy and enthusiasm to client meetings, and create authentic bonds that lead to more business. You will build the trust and respect that can withstand healthy discussion, and are not afraid to push back on clients.

The ideal candidate will have a background in marketing strategy. They should also be comfortable owning new business administrative tasks - making sure our CRM is up-to-date, helping to make presentation decks, responding to inbound emails, and managing internal communications. They will also be expected to maintain and edit all business development related materials including capabilities decks, case studies, creative assets, etc. This role will report to Deeplocal’s Managing Director and collaborate closely with the Director of Technical Strategy, and creative team.

The New Business Strategist will be responsible for:

  • Brand Representation – Learn and demonstrate a strong understanding of Deeplocal’s capabilities, process and positioning within our industry; know what our brand would (and wouldn’t) do, and how our brand would (and wouldn’t) act; and communicate this in spades in the marketplace.
  • Prospecting and Strategy - Analyze market conditions, identify target customer segments, and create a comprehensive plan to effectively reach and convert potential customers.
  • Pitching – Present Deeplocal’s offering in a compelling way that wins new work and builds enthusiasm for the brand. Work collaboratively to bring in the right stakeholders to the conversation at the right time.
  • Client Communication – Bring insight-driven, strategic thinking to conversations with new client prospects; communicate Deeplocal’s integrated process, brand, and unique position in the industry. Use a clear, direct communication style to manage relationships into new client contracts.
  • Relationship Strengthening – Visit/virtually meet with existing clients and brainstorm about projects we could work on together; energize and excite clients about these possibilities. Understand what individual clients are looking for in a partner, and understand their brief with the ability to read between the lines.
  • Strategic selling - Help to sell concepts and experiences that make sense for both the client and Deeplocal.
  • Business Brief Development for Pitches - Write creative briefs and lead conversations with prospective clients that extract the necessary information for our teams to be successful creatively. Ask the right questions to understand clients’ goals and objectives. Be your client’s internal spokesperson, telling their story and communicating their business challenges to internal teams.
  • Pitch Deck Review - Provide input and review pitch decks and budgets. Assist in developing the overall story, content and messaging strategy. Support creative and technical team leads as necessary to develop and finalize materials for pitches. When required, contribute to writing the final copy. Ensure decks and content are meticulously reviewed and proofread for accuracy and error-free presentation.
  • Request for Proposal (RFP) Procurement & Oversight: Procure and internally communicate new RFPs. Manage the RFP process to ensure exceptional and timely delivery.
  • CRM Management – Maintain an organized, detail-oriented process for capturing and tracking sales leads within Deeplocal’s CRM platform.
  • Reporting and Analysis – Provide weekly reporting on items such as new leads, upcoming meetings, RFP development. Conduct post-mortem analyses of closed deals to identify success factors and areas for improvement, using data-driven insights to refine sales strategies.
Must-Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or a relevant field, and/or 2-4 years working in a related role, ideally client-facing, preferably in experiential, interactive marketing.
  • An easy-going and engaging communication style in front of clients and teammates.
  • A natural ability to bring sharp strategic insights to your work and build coherent and compelling narratives.
  • Technically minded, able to understand complex concepts and explain them to others with varying levels of technical proficiency.
  • Confidence in making creative decisions and giving/receiving feedback that improves the quality of the work, pushes the boundaries of the brief, and reinforces the unique perspective of Deeplocal.
  • Excited by new challenges, and bringing a growth mindset.
  • Comfortable with developing strategies and implementing them; you’ll be wearing many hats at first.
  • Aptitude to lead and project manage new business pitches.
  • Highly organized with exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional writing (short- and long-form) and storytelling skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment with an ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and on weekends when necessary.
  • Proficiency with software tools including Google Workspace (G Suite), email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or similar), and CRMs (Hubspot, Sugar, etc).
