VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada seeks a full-time Support Staff member for the Nevada Cares Campus in Reno. You will work day shift 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, delivering compassionate services to residents experiencing homelessness and coordinating daily program activities.
You will perform safety checks, assist with property management, and maintain records while adhering to policy and safeguarding residents.

PROGRAM AND LOCATION: VOA a Certified Great Place to Work, is recruiting for full-time Support Staff day shift positions, 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, for our Nevada Cares Campus. The Nevada Cares Campus offers a safe place and a way forward for men and women experiencing homelessness in the Reno area. In partnership with Washoe County, the Nevada Cares Campus provides emergency shelter for up to 600 adult individuals and couples. Clients are able to bring their pets and possessions with them as they access support services and case management. Full-time employees (working 30 or more hours a week) are eligible for a benefits package that includes paid holidays, vacation, health, dental, vision, life, and short-term disability insurance coverage.
The Support Staff is responsible for assuring quality service in a safe, non-judgmental manner to all program participants compassionately and professionally as it relates to the specific program objectives. Objectives include supportive interaction with program participants and team members, assessment of participant’s needs, supporting the safety and the integrity of all residents, and performing all work duties as required. Work is performed in a cost-effective and service‑oriented manner as it relates to established organizational standards.
This position requires a demonstrated ability to communicate and comprehend oral and written instructions and provide services to participants without ethnic or social prejudices. The position requires general knowledge of issues and challenges unique to homelessness, substance abuse, young adults, minorities, and persons with disabilities. Must be able to utilize a range of interventions to work with participants with varying needs and levels of functioning. Must be flexible to work irregular hours and be willing to function as a team member. Computer skills required. Requires CPR and First Aid training within ninety (90) days of employment, re-certification as necessary, and T.B. testing annually. A valid Nevada driver’s license is preferred. Must undergo a criminal background check.
