Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Neurosurgery- Spineteam in Winston‑Salem, NC is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to deliver comprehensive spine/neurosurgery care. Responsibilities include patient assessments, ordering tests, perioperative management, and education within a collaborative team.

Qualified candidates will have NP or PA training, NC licensure, BLS, and relevant primary or urgent care experience.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program is required to start.
  • Valid North Carolina Nurse Practitioner license is required to start.
  • Valid BLS/CPR certification is required to start.
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master’s Degree preferred.

As an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant) in neurosurgery, your duties will include providing comprehensive care to patients with neurosurgical spine conditions, conducting patient assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing preoperative and postoperative care, prescribing medications, coordinating patient follow‑up, providing patient and family education, collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, participating in research and quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. What You'll Do:
  • Using medical decision‑making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
  • Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team‑based care.
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures.
  • Explains the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.

Requirement To Start:
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program is required to start

  • Valid American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required to start
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a primary care or urgent/emergent care environment
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start
