Job summary

Veterans Health Administration in Saint Louis, MO seeks a Staff Physician/Section Chief of Neurosurgery to lead the Neurosurgery Section within Surgical Service. You will oversee clinical care, perform complex spine and neurosurgical procedures, and supervise APPs and residents, while teaching and advancing program quality.

This is a full‑time leadership role with a comprehensive benefits package, and recruitment/relocation incentives may be offered.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from LCME/COCA‑accredited school or equivalent.
• ECFMG certification required for foreign medical graduates where applicable.
• Full and unrestricted medical licensure in any US state or territory.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight for the Neurosurgery Section within Surgical Service.
• Perform complex neurosurgical procedures and supervise APPs, RNs, and technicians.
• Supervise residents and nursing staff; conduct teaching and in‑service training.
• Collaborate with other service chiefs and executive leadership to improve patient care and education.
• Manage outpatient, inpatient, and emergency neurosurgical care including triage and discharge planning.
