Job summary

St. Luke’s in Boise, Idaho seeks a compassionate Neurosurgery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our outpatient Neurosurgery team. You will coordinate the patient surgical journey, acting as the primary clinical resource for pre-admission, scheduling, education, and care coordination.

The ideal candidate has neurosurgical pre-operative/perioperative experience and strong communication and organizational skills in an outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license in state of practice.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience; scheduling experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of pre-operative and perioperative patient care; excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule neurosurgical procedures with surgeons, hospitals, centers, anesthesia teams and ancillary departments.
• Conduct pre-admission assessments and review histories, medications, allergies, and testing requirements.
• Ensure completion of surgical clearances, authorizations, consents, and documentation prior to surgery.
• Educate patients and families on procedures, pre-op instructions, post-op expectations, and recovery planning.
• Serve as primary contact for patients during scheduling and preparation process.
• Coordinate pre-operative testing, imaging, labs, and specialty consultations.
• Triage patient calls and clinical questions related to upcoming procedures.
• Collaborate with providers and facilities to ensure timely planning.
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and monitor schedules to address delays or changes.
