Job summary

Garnet Health Medical Center in New York is seeking a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive clinical care across preadmission, perioperative, and postoperative stages. The APP will work closely with neurosurgery teams to exam patients, perform bedside procedures, participate in operative duties, and support staff education to enhance patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate holds NY PA licensure, has neurosurgery OR experience, and is board-certified or eligible, with BLS/ACLS

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited P.A. Program.
• Three years in Neurosurgery with OR, floor and office experience preferred.
• Current Physician Assistant Licensure in New York State required.
• Graduate of an Accredited P.A. Program required.
• Current BLS Certification preferred.
• Current ACLS Certification required.
• Board Certification required.
• DEA registration valid and unrestricted required.
• Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.
• Current NY Infection Control Certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality clinical management and total care for neurosurgical patients across preadmission, preop testing, PACU, ICU, stepdown care, outpatient clinic and other areas as designated.
• Collaborate with neurology, intensivists, anesthesia, nursing, case management, rehab teams and surgeons to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Educate staff on competencies, new procedures and advanced practice skills.
• Assist with operative duties and expedite timely discharges where applicable.
