Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner training program that conforms to the Board of Registered Nursing standards.
• Successful completion of a Physician Assistant program of instruction approved by the Physician Assisting Examining Committee; NCCPA certification.
• For Nurse Practitioners: Furnishing Number by the CA Board of Registered Nursing and ANCC/AANP/WHNP certification.

Responsibilities

• Assess, evaluate and manage health care needs of patients in neurosurgery.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic tasks with advanced knowledge and clinical judgment.
• Order and/or perform laboratory and screening tests per protocol.
• Conduct history and physical examinations in general medical settings or specialty clinics.
• Plan care with physicians and other staff; develop problem lists based on findings.
• Provide and evaluate patient care according to protocol and QA criteria.
• Educate patients and families; provide counseling on healthy practices.
