The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will join CU Anschutz's Department of Neurosurgery in Aurora, delivering inpatient neurosurgical care, perioperative management, and first assist in surgeries. The role emphasizes collaboration with APPs, surgical faculty, and residents, with an inpatient heavy focus and a cohesive team model.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a master's degree in Advanced Practice Nursing (Acute Care NP) or a graduate of an accredited program in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Current Colorado Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by a national professional organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessments of neurosurgical patients and documents findings.
  • Prescribes medications and monitors patient response per physician practice agreement or protocols.
  • Analyze clinic practice to identify opportunities for increased effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Meets regularly with physicians; collaborates to implement programmatic changes.
  • First Assist on neurosurgical surgeries and related patient care tasks as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of confidentiality and risk management in patient care and unit functioning.
  • Attends specialty conferences and participates in professional development activities.
