Job summary

Stanford University’s Hernandez-Nunez Lab seeks a Research Specialist focused on organism-wide circuits for brain-body interactions in larval zebrafish. The role collaborates across engineering, neuroscience, developmental biology, and physics within a multidisciplinary team.

The 2-year fixed-term, 100% FTE position is based on the Stanford campus, with duties spanning experimental design, data analysis, protocol development, and preparation of publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related scientific field with 2 years of experience or Master’s degree.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to maintain detailed records.
• Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
• Experience with Python and/or MATLAB preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct portions of research projects and design experiments.
• Independently conduct complex experiments to gather data for a major project.
• Interpret and analyze results and modify procedures as needed.
• Develop new research protocols when literature does not describe them.
• Contribute to publication of findings and present ongoing work at conferences.
• Oversee lab safety, inventory, and supervision of staff or students.
