Job summary

Rutgers University—RBHS is seeking a Student Assistant to join the Neurology lab focused on the molecular pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. The role supports data analysis, manuscript preparation, and collaborative research activities under the PI.

You will perform bioinformatics analyses, organize data, and present findings in lab meetings; requires Python (plus MATLAB or R) and basic Office tools; on-site, part-time 20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Current Rutgers Undergraduate Students should have robust coding experience, particularly in Python, as well as the ability to undertake basic coding projects independently, with some guidance from the PI.
• It is expected that the incumbent has relevant research experience and can work independently under the direction of the principal investigator.

Responsibilities

• Undertake bioinformatics analyses of imaging, genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics data, as well as statistical analyses of biological data and any other types of analyses that might arise. Most of these will be Python-based, but occasional use of other scientific software available in the lab will be essential.
• Work conductively with other members of the lab and collaborators from within Rutgers and elsewhere.
• Store data, analyses and code within the lab's shared folders and GitHub repository, as directed by the PI.
• Analyze data, organize them and present them at laboratory meetings and scientific meetings.
• Help prepare manuscripts for publications.
