Job summary

Qualifications

• Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse with Illinois regulatory board.
• Current BLS/CPR and unit-specific certifications.
• Effective communication skills to facilitate therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
• Intermediate computer skills with experience in EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Completes required orientation and unit-specific competencies.
• Develops and updates the patient care plan based on ongoing assessment and input from the patient and family.
• Collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care.
• Verifies and implements orders from physicians and documents in the EMR.
• Engages patients and families to develop appropriate educational plans.
• Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to changing patient needs.
• Delegates appropriate tasks per the Illinois Nurse Practice Act and supports staff.
• Demonstrates commitment to UI Health values and patient safety.
