Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking an RN Staff Nurse for the 7E Neurology unit. The position offers 36 hours per week with 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM shifts and a union environment. Start pay reflects nursing education and experience, with enhanced pay and sign-on bonuses available.

Applicants must hold PA RN licensure; ACLS/ NIH Stroke Scale preferred. Tuition assistance and loan repayment programs are offered as part of the benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current license to practice nursing in the State of Pennsylvania.
• ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale Certifications preferred.
• CPR/BLS required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care using nursing protocols and administer medications and IV therapy.
• Assess and reassess patient needs and update care plans every eight hours or as needed.
• Plan care with patients and families, coordinate with community agencies and professionals.
• Engage in team discussions to develop patient care plans with medical staff.
• Use Bed Management System, Alpha, CPOE and other systems efficiently.
• Teach and educate patients and families; contribute to staff and student education.
• Consult with and guide other healthcare team members; maintain professionalism.
• Follow universal precautions and maintain competency per lab criteria.
