Job summary

University of Hawai'i at Manoa seeks an Associate/Full Professor in Neurology as Program Director, overseeing education for graduate and postgraduate residency programs. The role involves leadership in curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and scholarly activity within the division.

You will manage accreditation, ensure clinical education excellence, and coordinate academic and clinical responsibilities across departments and partners.

Qualifications

  • MD degree or equivalent medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Maintaining board certification in Hematology and/or Medical Oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Valid Hawaii Medical license by date of hire.
  • Four years at the rank of Assistant professor, or four years of other health care experience, or a total of four years of teaching in the rank of Assistant Professor and other experience, or one year at the rank of Associate Professor at another health care school of recognized standing.
  • Proven ability in teaching, research, and program administration.
  • Recognition for having made a significant scholarly contribution to the clinical specialty.
  • Ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues.
  • Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
  • Evidence of excellent patient care in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience functioning in a complex system of multiple organizations and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with LCME and ACGME requirements

Responsibilities

  • Leads curriculum development, implementation, and continuous evaluation for graduate and post-graduate Neurology residency education.
  • Provides instruction and mentorship to medical students, graduate students, residents, and faculty across clinical and academic settings.
  • Conducts, supports, and promotes research and scholarly activity within the division.
  • Oversees and continuously assess the residency learning environment to ensure excellence in education, professionalism, and patient care.
  • Serves as the Program Director for the Neurology residency, with full accountability for program administration, accreditation compliance, and adherence to all applicable regulatory and institutional requirements.
  • Performs additional academic, clinical, and scholarly responsibilities as assigned.
