Job summary

University of California, San Francisco seeks an Epidemiologist/Biostatistician to lead data analysis for epidemiologic and clinical studies focused on Parkinson's disease and related disorders. You will manage data, apply advanced statistical methods, and develop reporting tools for investigators and sponsors.

You will collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and data analysts to design studies, implement analyses, and communicate findings to scientific and lay audiences.

Qualifications

• BA degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, or related field.
• Five years of experience in a related field / with relevant research experience.
• Advanced skills in programming, statistical analysis and data management in R or Python.
• Advanced knowledge of biostatistical research methods for epidemiologic studies with a general focus on causal inference and longitudinal/survival analysis.
• Experience evaluating and analyzing large-data electronic health record (EHR) notes applying NLP and LLM via R and Python packages.
• Advanced knowledge of academic publication process and ability to propose research direction that leads to impactful results.
• Advanced ability to communicate complex information clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Advanced project management skills; ability to lead within and beyond project teams.
• Advanced research skills to propose analysis direction and devise solutions.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Principal Investigator and collaborate with investigators, staff, trainees, and data analysts to achieve study objectives.
• Plan, design, and oversee data management and statistical analyses for multiple studies.
• Develop and implement analytic approaches using epidemiologic methods, causal inference, survival, and longitudinal analyses.
• Create multivariable analysis plans and independently conduct planned analyses.
• Integrate data from multiple clinical, research, registry, and administrative sources.
• Ensure participant confidentiality and compliance with data security/privacy rules.
• Provide statistical input into study design, instruments, and protocols.
• Develop dynamic reports and visualizations to communicate progress.
• Prepare statistical sections of grants, manuscripts, and technical reports.
• Mentor and train junior analysts in statistical methods and best practices.
• Lead analytic activities across concurrent studies and guide research direction.
