Job summary

ONC is seeking a Neurologist specializing in neuromuscular diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis) and cognitive disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's disease) to join our Edmond, Oklahoma center of excellence.

You will perform exams, order diagnostic tests, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, document care, and coordinate with nurses and medical staff to deliver the best possible patient outcomes while maintaining infection-control policies.

Qualifications

  • Must be professionally licensed to practice neurology and in good standing with state licensing bodies.
  • Board certified or board eligible in neurology.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of neurology and treatment options.
  • Strong communication and empathy when dealing with patients.

Responsibilities

  • Perform physical and neurological examinations of patients with neurological disorders.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (blood tests, imaging, etc.).
  • Diagnose conditions based on exams and test results.
  • Develop and manage treatment plans; adjust as needed.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely.
  • Communicate treatment plans and instructions to patients and families.
  • Collaborate with nurses and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Maintain knowledge of current neurology trends and best practices.

Job Summary

ONC is seeking a Neurologist specializing in neuromuscular diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis, etc.) and cognitive disorders (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, etc.) to join our neurology center of excellence in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Essential Functions
  • Perform physical and neurological examination of patients who are suffering from neurological disorders.
  • Order diagnostic tests such as blood tests, spinal fluid tests, and imaging tests such as MRIs.
  • Diagnose conditions and disorders based on physical and cognitive exams and test results.
  • Develop treatment plans and manage and adapt treatment of patients depending on progress.
  • Document patient care services in a timely manner.
  • Communicate treatment plans and instructions to patients.
  • Communicate with nurses and other medical staff to ensure patients receive best possible care.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends in area of expertise.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Comply with federal/state/local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Build practice to support the vision and goals of ONC.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness, and in a safe manner, is an essential function of this job.
Supervision Responsibility

This position will supervise Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in coordination with Administration. This position may be required to supervise a clinic infusion team periodically.

Qualifications
  • Must be professionally licensed to practice neurology and be in good standing with all applicable federal/state/local licensing bodies.
  • Must be board certified/board eligible in neurology.
  • Caringand compassionate when dealing with patients.
  • Thorough and up-to-date working knowledge of neurology and neurology treatment options.
  • Technical skills to operate medical equipment and tools related to neurology treatment.
  • Must maintain current knowledge of industry best practices, trends, and applicable laws and regulations regarding scope of practice.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to sit, perform data entry, and view computer screen for long periods at a time.
  • Daily standing, walking, bending, and maneuvering.
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds or more to transfer and/or turn patient with and without assistive devices.
Environmental Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.
Travel

Travel to other clinic locations may be required.

Scheduled Working Hours

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Fridays. Hours may vary based on daily patient schedule and the needs of the position, department, and clinic. Weekend and holiday on-call hours are expected from time to time. This position requires physician to attend monthly provider meetings and bimonthly staff meetings at 7:30 a.m.
