Job summary

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Nurse II to support PET neuroimaging studies in alcohol and cocaine use disorder. You will recruit participants, assess eligibility, and implement imaging protocols under PI supervision.

Responsibilities include arterial line management, arterial blood sampling, pharmacologic challenges, data capture, and regulatory adherence, with emphasis on safety and participant monitoring throughout imaging visits.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in clinical research, neuroimaging, or a critical care/procedural setting.
• Experience with arterial line management, removal, and arterial blood sampling
• BLS certification
• Clinical experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or medically managed withdrawal, including use of standardized withdrawal assessment tools
• Training or experience in suicide risk assessment and crisis response
• Familiarity with IRB submission processes and electronic data capture systems
• Experience working with participants with substance use or other psychiatric disorders

Responsibilities

• Coordinating projects and drug trials; assessing patients' qualifications and facilitating protocols.
• Collecting and reviewing lab results, patient data, and lab specimens; administering medications and protocol-specific treatments.
• Performing general laboratory duties; training new staff; ensuring regulatory adherence.
• Building recruitment relationships with community and health system partners; presenting study information; tracking referrals.
• Coordinating clinical PET neuroimaging studies; screening and enrolling participants; obtaining informed consent.
• Assessing withdrawal signs; administering standardized withdrawal assessments and documenting vital signs.
