Geisinger's Neurology department is seeking a full time neurohospitalist clinician teacher.
Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC) is Lackawanna county's premier health care facility with three hundred beds and home to a primary stroke center and a level II trauma center.
The neurohospitalist team manages a neurology consult service at GCMC supported by advanced practitioners and residents. There is system wide tele stroke and nighttime tele neurology coverage from the Geisinger system. This a shift work position with no nighttime call.
Medical students from Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine rotate through the service, and there is a neurology residency in the region, so there are many opportunities for teaching. Faculty appointments and more formal roles in education are available for qualified candidates.
There is a robust video-EEG monitoring program, with remote reading from the Geisinger system. There is local support from neurology’s on-site multispecialty outpatient group.
