Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Lab Technician to perform standard and complex procedures, provide on-call coverage, and support patient scheduling and lab operations. The role includes training new staff and pursuing credentialing as needed.

The position emphasizes teamwork across the neurodiagnostic lab, with opportunities for professional development and involvement in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• ABRET or AAET registration in at least one neurodiagnostic specialty.
• 1–2 years’ experience in a patient care setting.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician.
• Provides on-call coverage as required.
• Schedules patients and performs related clerical, technical, and lab duties.
• Maintains current registration and pursues additional credentials.

These procedures include EEG, EMG, Autonomic testing, Evoke Potentials, OR Monitoring, or assisting with BOTOX treatments. May assist in the training of other technicians.I. Major Responsibilities:1. Performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. Adapts procedures to particular clinical circumstances.2. Provides on call coverage as required.3. Schedules patients and performs other related clerical, technical, and functional duties in the lab.4. Maintains current registration and/or works towards registration5. Trains new hires and acts as a preceptor for students or new staff6. Troubleshoots equipment and coordinates repairs7. Performs all other tasks as neededII. Position Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Required:1. High School diploma or equivalent.Preferred:1. Associates degree or higher2. ABRET or AAET registration in at least one neurodiagnostic specialty.Experience/Skills:Required:1. One to two year’s experience in patient care setting.2. Demonstrated ability to perform neurodiagnostic testing3. Excellent communication skills necessary, both oral and written to interact with staff, physicians and patients.Preferred:1. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple neurodiagnostic test modalities.2.
