Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities


  • Oversees Neurodiagnostic student activities and training in the clinical setting.

  • Prepares and maintains assigned educational phases of the student program within the Committee on accreditation for Education in Neurodiagnostic Technology (CoA-NDT) accreditation agency standards; promotes appropriate standards of quality for education in neurodiagnostic technology as set forth by CoA-NDT.

  • Instructs students in applying the theory of neurodiagnostics to the practical \"hands on\" aspects of neurodiagnostics. In that capacity must proficiently perform basic to advanced neurodiagnostic procedures with the ability to demonstrate those skills to student neurodiagnostic, position patients and select appropriate exposure factors, adhere to principals of American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) to ensure safety of patients, staff, students and the public, and perform various patient positioning and transporting duties.

  • Provides student evaluations through testing, observation, and/or staff communication and feedback.

  • Maintains student records as required by CoA-NDT.

  • Participates in the neurodiagnostic program outcome assessment, collects data, and offers suggestions for continual program improvement.

  • Enforces program policies in the clinical environment.

  • Promotes the profession by providing in-service presentations to registered technologists, other medical professional groups within the organization, and student and professional groups outside the medical center.

  • May provide didactic instruction in specific area(s) of expertise.

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.



Requirements


  • Master's Degree in Health Science or related field.

  • 2 years of experience in the professional discipline.

  • Evoked Potentials Technologist Registration (R. EP T.) issued by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET)

  • Electroencephalographic Technologist registration (R EEG T) issued by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET),

  • Certified Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) certification issued by the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) needs to be obtained within 1 year

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions


  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job.

  • Must be able to stand for up to 60% of the day.

  • Must be able to walk, lift, squat, bend, and twist.

  • Frequently lifts up to 35 lbs. Occasionally lifts over 100 lbs. with assistance.

  • Must be able to use hands and feet to operate equipment.

  • Must have clear speech and good vision and hearing.

  • Will be exposed to chemicals and radiation.

  • Must wear protective clothing (i.e. lead aprons, isolation gowns, protective eyewear, etc.) as needed.
