Job summary

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC seeks a highly motivated NP or PA to join our Neurosciences ICU (NSICU) team providing advanced neurocritical care to complex neurologic and neurosurgical patients.

You will collaborate with neurointensivists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists in a high-acuity setting with 24/7 in-house intensivist support and a strong emphasis on innovation, education, and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current North Carolina NP or PA license, or eligibility for licensure.
• National certification (AGACNP, ACNP, or NCCPA).
• Current BLS and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of critically ill neurologic and neurosurgical patients.
• Manage patients with acute stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, cerebral edema, seizures, vasospasm, and other neurocritical illnesses.
• Monitor and manage external ventricular drains (EVDs), intracranial pressure monitoring, and other advanced neuromonitoring modalities.
• Interpret neurologic examinations, imaging studies, laboratory data, and physiologic monitoring to guide treatment decisions.
• Collaborate closely with neurointensivists, neurosurgeons, neurologists, residents, nursing staff, therapists, pharmacists, and ancillary services.
• Coordinate transitions of care and facilitate patient and family communication.
• Participate in quality improvement, research initiatives, education, and protocol development.
