Job summary

The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) in Neurocritical Care provides advanced care for critically ill patients with complex neurological conditions at an Ohio facility. The ACNP collaborates with physicians, residents, and the care team to deliver assessment, diagnosis, and management in the ICU.

Responsibilities include monitoring patients with stroke or neurosurgical issues, leading treatment plans, and educating families, while adhering to HIPAA and institutional guidelines.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Completion of an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current licensure as an RN in Ohio and active Ohio ACNP license.
• BLS and ACLS certification at hire.
• ANCC or equivalent national ACNP certification.
• Prescriptive authority certificate current and maintained.
• PHP Standard Care Arrangement required prior to engaging in practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams on critically ill patients.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests (CT, MRI, EEG, labs).
• Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans with supervising physician(s).
• Manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and ICP devices.
• Respond to emergencies, codes, rapid responses, and acute neurological deteriorations.
• Document all care in the EMR.
