Job summary

HireTalent in the United States is seeking a senior software tester with strong networking and IT/OT knowledge to join our on-site team in Ohio. You will plan, execute, and document comprehensive functional tests across complex Ethernet networks, using various security tools and automation frameworks to ensure robust product quality.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in computer engineering, CS, or EE with CS focus, and has 3+ years of experience in software testing or development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, CS, or EE with CS focus.
• Experience in software testing or development (minimum 3 years).
• Strong networking and Ethernet test experience.
• Familiarity with security testing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to team planning and status meetings to clarify priorities, assignments, and expected deliverables
• Execute routine functional testing with security tools using white/grey/black-box techniques to identify vulnerabilities
• Analyze complex problems, record encountered issues, and document findings for future resolutions
• Collaborates with developers to analyze and define discovered problems
• Create new test assets and cases to address evolving product or system requirements
• Contribute to the development of automation strategies and frameworks
• Build and expand knowledge of testing methodologies and practices
• Continuously enhance expertise in functional test development processes
• Assess challenges and explore solutions by consulting subject matter experts, ensuring decisions are evidence-based throughout product development
• Define timelines for assigned tasks/projects and monitor progress against them
• Apply testing tools and techniques to achieve comprehensive functional coverage
• Deliver informal technical presentations to small groups on specialized topics
• Stay informed on emerging networking technologies, industry trends, and IT/OT best practices
• Show curiosity toward new technologies and products that could enhance client’s offerings, while consistently learning and refining skills

Job description

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on Computer Science
• At least 3 years of experience in software testing or development
• Solid understanding of computer networks and communication protocols
• Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network implementations
• Expert-level technical background in High-complexity Networking solutions and implementation strategies, and understanding of IT and OT convergence
• Background in testing, specifically in testing of Ethernet networks and test environment design for Ethernet networks
• Experience with network technologies including (STP, VLANs, DTP, VTP, IGMP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, Flex links, ACLs, DLR, PRP, HSR, MRP...)
• Experience with security-related concepts, protocol fuzzing tools, and the PSIRT process
• Experience with Cisco IE/Stratix networking switches and routers
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks
• Knowledge of industrial control systems
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Network management software and network diagnostics and utilities
• Proficiency in programming methods and scripting languages, with strong skills in Python
• Experience in Software or Product Development a huge plus
