Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. invites applications for a Network & Systems Intern in the IT department. The intern will perform updates to our existing infrastructure, including Active Directory, networking, and imaging of servers and workstations, with travel and overnight stays.

The internship runs mid-May to mid-August, Monday through Friday, with travel expenses reimbursed. Candidates pursuing CS/MIS/SE or related technical degree programs are encouraged to apply, with up to 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed degree in Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering or related technical field.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with store and corporate teams.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and communicate effectively with supporting staff.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain existing IT infrastructure.
• Work with Active Directory, Networking, and imaging of servers/workstations.
• Apply updates to network devices and computers; script as needed (PowerShell or Bash).
• Travel for work, including overnight stays; up to 40 hours per week.

Job Description: Job Title: Network & Systems Intern Department: IT FLSA: Non Exempt

Hy-Vee, Inc. is a progressive company working on technologies associated with virtualization, mobile computing, supply chain optimization, data warehousing, server clusters and business intelligence.

The Information Technology department has a paid internship position available to perform updates to our existing infrastructure.

These tasks include working with Active Directory, Networking, staging and deploying workstations as well as various other maintenance tasks and software updates.

The position will be Monday through Friday, with travel and overnight stays.

The internship will begin in mid-May and conclude in mid-August.

Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Strong communication skills when working with store and corporate personal.

Basic understanding of network devices (switches, firewalls, and routers).

Basic understanding of computer hardware and peripherals.

Basic knowledge of Imaging and applying updates to servers and workstations.

Basic knowledge of a scripting language. Example: Bash or PowerShell

Ability to troubleshoot issues and communicate the issue effectively with supporting staff.

Complete required maintenance tasks on network system devices.

Qualifications include working toward, or recently acquired, a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering or some other technical degree program.

Selected candidates will work up to, and potentially exceeding 40 hours per week.

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, and color vision, and field of vision.

Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
