Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Network Systems Administrator for on-site work at Fort Meade, MD, to support DISA. You will manage enterprise network infrastructure, implement security baselines, and ensure reliable communications across DoD networks.

The role requires hands-on Cisco routing/switching experience, familiarity with firewall devices, VPNs, and routing protocols. Active TS/SCI clearance and Security+ or DoD 8570 IAT II certification are expected after hire.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience engineering, administering, and troubleshooting enterprise networks.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, firewall/security devices, MPLS, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VLANs, VoIP, Multicast.
• Bachelor’s degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience.
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance and Security+ (or DoD 8570 IAT Level II) within a designated timeframe after hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform network integration, testing, security engineering, implementation, and configuration support for enterprise network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with network architects to develop STIG-compliant configuration baselines, version control, and compliance tracking processes.
• Support system performance optimization, continuous service improvement initiatives, incident escalation, problem management, and root cause analysis activities.
• Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIPs), SOPs, and TTPs while supporting operational readiness for new engineering solutions.
• Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, IPS devices, load balancers, and WAN technologies.

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Systems Administrator to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), an organization responsible for providing, operating, and securing critical communications and network services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position is on-site in Fort Meade, MD. The Network Systems Administrator will provide network operations, engineering sustainment, and lifecycle support for a mission-critical IP messaging and communications transport network. This is an exciting opportunity to support national security initiatives while ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise-scale network infrastructure.

Responsibilities for the Network Systems Administrator include:

• Hands‑on experience with Cisco routing, switching, firewall/security devices, MPLS, VPNs, BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, VLANs, VoIP, Multicast, and related network technologies.
• Strong understanding of defense‑in‑depth principles, network security architecture, IP addressing/subnetting, technical documentation, and customer‑facing communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance and Security+ (or DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification within a designated timeframe after hire).

Compensation for the Network Systems Administrator include:

• Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000 a year depending on experience
