Tucson Airport Authority in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and support the airport’s network and computing systems, both on-premises and in the cloud. You will ensure availability, performance, and security of the IT backbone, including VMware-based environments and key security controls.
Responsibilities include patching, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and collaborating with vendors and stakeholders to modernize technology infrastructure.

Under minimal supervision, performsprofessional andadvancedtechnical work designing, developing, implementing,maintainingand supporting Tucson Airport Authority’s (TAA)systems and network infrastructure.Ensures theoperational availability,performance, reliability, and effectiveness of allTAAnetwork and computing systemsboth on premise and cloud instancesusing VMWare.Installs and configuresnewtechnologyinfrastructure andnetworkequipment,includingservers,routers, switches, firewalls,accesspointsand other types of devices.Maintains andensuresthe integrity oftheInformation Technology (IT)infrastructure and fiber backbone.Performs network and systemssecurity checks and security system installations/updates.SupportsITcustomers in the operation and useof TAA ITtechnologysystems andnetworkequipment. May support andmaintainother specialized ITsystems includingbut not limited to:Access Control Systems(ACS),ElectronicVideo Information Displays (EVIDS), pagingsystems,andClosed CircuitTelevision (CCTV).

Manages performance and capacity planning for network systems.Identifies, analyzes,and resolves network and relatedsystemproblems.Installs, configures, andtroubleshootsnetwork equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, cabling systems, and othernetworkhardware.
Installs and tests software patches,upgrades, and other configuration changes.
Monitors and optimizes networksystemsperformance.
Implements,upgradesandmaintainsservers (including virtualand hybrid cloud)and associated operating systems, storage systems and enterprise backup systemsusing latest versions of VMWare.
Monitors and testssystem performance andprovides solutions for any problemsidentified whilemaintainingand patching systems foroptimalperformanceand security.
Assesses, recommends, implements, andmaintainssolutions for systemssecurity,including vulnerabilities associated with all types of cyber risks and threats.Identifiesgapsin IT security for infrastructure and applications, including vulnerabilitiesand risks,using standard scanning tools,techniquesand procedures.
Ensurestechnology infrastructure and network equipmentaresecurefrom unauthorizedaccessbased on best practicesand federal mandates.
Ensures all designated data is backed up and recoverable.
Researches,recommendsand plans for the expansion, replacement, or upgrade oftechnology infrastructure and network equipmentand relatedsoftware. Identifiesgaps or inefficienciesand resolves.
Collaborates with vendors, contractors, management, and other technical experts planning for modernization of current technologyinfrastructureandthe design/installation of new systems. Serves as the subject matter expert on specifictechnology infrastructure and network equipment.
Creates andmaintainsconfigurationdocumentation, service records, andprocedures fortechnology infrastructure and network equipmentand networkmanagement.
Designs,submits, and performs configuration changes through TAA Change Management/Control Procedure.
Documents airport copper/fiber cable infrastructure for new and existingtechnology infrastructureusing TAAestablishedstandards and methods.
Supports and performstechnology infrastructureand network disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives.
Acts as the technical lead and provides advanced technical information about TAAtechnologyinfrastructure, supporting other projects, analysis, and planning initiatives.
Attendsinstructor-leadtechnicaleducationor completes online training to keep current on changing technology.Mentorsothers and ensures knowledge transfer between team members.
Communicates and interacts effectively with all types of internal and external contacts and customers to resolve technical problems withtechnology infrastructure and network equipment.
Keeps current with emerging technologies and how advances may beleveragedto increase the efficiency/effectiveness of TAA’s business processes.
Be responsive to airport emergencies and situations that may involve loss of human life or property; support public safety and operational response to emergencies; utilize Incident Management System (ICS)/National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols and procedures; coordinate and/or participate in after-action emergency de-briefing with appropriate departments and stakeholders.
ABachelor’sdegree from an accreditedfour-year college/universitywith major coursework in Information Technology (IT), Business,Information/Cybersecurity.
Seven(7)years ofexperienceinmedium to largenetwork infrastructure environments.
TAA will consider any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient todemonstrateaptitude for the position.
