Network Support Technician (STAT) – San Antonio, Texas – Full Time – Open until 23 June 2026.
Inserso is seeking Network Support Technicians to provide support to our DHS customers worldwide. This position provides onsite and remote Tier 2 support that requires prompt action and quick resolution of user IT issues to minimize downtime, including hardware, software, applications, network diagnostics, cloud, and other IT services.
The Network Support Technician reports to an Area Technical Lead and provides IT Field Operations support for 24x7 LANs and associated applications, peripherals, connectivity, and end-users in a Service Desk supported Tier II environment. The role operates independently, following established guidelines, while also requiring a certain degree of creativity and latitude.
Responsibilities
- Provide LAN administrator support for installation, configuration, and maintenance of network communication devices, servers, network storage arrays, and tape backup units.
- Support network‑connected devices such as computers, printers, fax machines, biometric devices, electrocardiograms, X‑ray machines, smart displays, and sensors.
- Support mobile and wireless devices, including smartphones, tablets, and hotspots.
- Test, apply, and maintain server configurations and related security patches.
- Maintain system health and backups, including restore testing.
- Monitor ITSM (ServiceNow) assignment groups and troubleshoot tickets as needed.
- Update tickets following documentation templates to meet quality standards.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports describing accomplishments.
- Provide inventory support and input to the customer’s inventory system.
- Install and maintain video teleconferencing infrastructure, assisting with user requests.
- Participate in scheduled after‑hours support using a weekly on‑call rotation and/or special projects or events.
- Deploy new equipment and provide requested deployment support.
- Run cabling within data centers, LAN rooms, and remote wiring closets.
- Analyze functional business requirements and design specifications.
- Contribute to technical discussions and present briefing materials to meet customer needs.
- Identify and fix problems in existing systems, enhance systems, and participate in analysis, design, and development of new IT systems.
- Create requirements for new systems that are implementable by architecture, engineering, and COTS product teams.
- Apply system engineering experience in areas such as telecommunications concepts, computer languages, operating systems, database/DBMS, and middleware.
Required Skills / Experience
- U.S. Citizen, eligible for DHS Employment Eligibility Verification.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 1 year of IT‑related support experience, preferably helpdesk or customer support.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve desktop, network, or other IT issues.
- Basic knowledge of network products and systems.
- Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑quality environment.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑through.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Pass Motor Vehicle Records check (classification “Regular Driver”); overnight travel may be required (typically <20%).
- Comfortable working in a law‑enforcement environment, including facilities such as detention centers, prisons, or jails.
- Willingness to wear personal protective equipment and observe social distancing when required.

- Experience providing enterprise‑wide technical support in a large, complex organization.
- Ability to apply comprehensive knowledge across multiple, high‑impact assignments.
- Experience evaluating system performance and recommending improvements.
- Experience performing IT hardware repairs and installing replacement parts.
- Experience planning and leading technology assignments and projects.
- Hands‑on experience with setup, configuration, and administration of servers and backups.
- Experience as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
- Certifications: ITIL v5, MCSE, A+, Security+, Network+, or equivalent.
Physical / Mental Qualifications
- Outstanding communication skills in formal and informal settings with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists.
- Capability to stand, operate, and transport equipment up to 50 lb.
