Job summary

Noblis is seeking a highly capable TIS Security Engineer to support the FAA’s Telecommunications and Integrated Services Group. The role focuses on cybersecurity-by-design in network architecture, with hands-on review of configurations and pathways to align with NIST and federal standards.

The ideal candidate has federal program experience, expertise in boundary protection, IPv4/IPv6, and defense-in-depth concepts. This position may involve remote/hybrid work depending on government requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal government programs, ideally within FAA or transportation.
  • Hands-on network engineering or architecture with boundary protection design, firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and load balancing.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications infrastructure including IPv4/IPv6, WAN/LAN environments.
  • Understand federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST RMF, FISMA, NIST SP 800-53 rev 5).
  • Ability to evaluate network and system security concepts for large-scale, safety-critical systems like NAS.
  • Comfortable advising on defense-in-depth architectures, Zero Trust CONOPS, SD-WANs, and emerging technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with System Engineers, PMs, and cyber stakeholders to support ATO packages and continuous monitoring.
  • Ability to develop system security plans, risk assessments, and related security documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and guide network architecture to ensure cybersecurity is built-in from the ground up.
  • Review system configurations, firewall rules, and network paths to FAA standards and federal cybersecurity rules.
  • Lead transitions from IPv4 to IPv6 and microwave refreshes from security and architecture perspectives.
  • Support integration of Zero Trust, SDN, and defense-in-depth strategies into enterprise solutions.
  • Act as a technical bridge between FAA cyber stakeholders and infrastructure providers (network, security, cloud).
  • Evaluate vendor architectures and provide expert recommendations based on federal policy and security principles.
