Job summary

Innosoft Corporation in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced cybersecurity/network specialist for a 12-month contract. The role involves hands-on security operations, network design, and system hardening across on‑premises and cloud environments.

You will report to the Office of Cybersecurity SOC Lead and support daily cyber defense tasks, incident response, and security monitoring using SIEM (QRadar/Splunk) and vulnerability tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Cybersecurity or equivalent experience.
• PCNSE or CCNA certification preferred.
• 3–5 years in network design, implementation, or support.
• Experience IT security or system administration.
• Knowledge of secure network design and security architecture.
• Ability to analyze security logs, alerts, and telemetry.
• Experience with Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on role reporting to SOC Lead in Office of Cybersecurity.
• Support security operations for leadership, business units, partners, and vendors.
• Familiar with CMS ARC-AMPE, HIPAA, NIST, FISMA RMF frameworks.
• Perform security processes for compliant enterprise architectures.
• Support cloud and on-prem networks and vendor integrations.
• Work with Windows, macOS, Linux environments.
• Review firewall rules and assess security risks.
• Analyze on-premises and cloud networks for threats.
• Develop network traffic reports and monitor for violations.
• Stay ahead of emerging cyber threats and countermeasures.

Project Overview

The Office of Cybersecurity ensures theconfidentiality, integrity, and availability of SCDHH’s systems and services.The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with data networkdesign best practices, routing and switching protocols, network security bestpractices, and on-premises and/or cloud networking environments. This rolerequires someone who can work independently on technical tasks while alsosupporting senior analysts on more complex cybersecurity and networkinitiatives.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Hands-on technical role reportingdirectly to the Office of Cybersecurity SOC Lead.
  
• Support SCDHHS leadership, businessunits, partners, and vendors with day-to-day cybersecurity operations.
  
• Experience with security and complianceframeworks such as CMS ARC-AMPE, HIPAA, NIST, and FISMA RMF is stronglydesired.
  
• Perform repeatable security processessupporting compliant enterprise architectures.
  
• Support security requirements formulti-tenant cloud environments and vendor integrations.
  
• Hands-on experience with Windows, macOS,and Linux operating systems.
  
• Strong understanding of switching,routing, enterprise firewalls, and network auditing.
  
• Experience with IDS/IPS platforms andnetwork security monitoring.
  
• Experience with SIEM platforms,preferably QRadar or Splunk.
  
• Experience with vulnerability scanningtools such as Nessus and Qualys.
  
• Cloud infrastructure security experienceis preferred.
  
• Assist with improving and maturingnetwork security and compliance solutions.
  
• Investigate, analyze, and respond todaily network security alerts.
  
• Perform security assessments for proposedfirewall and infrastructure changes.
  
• Conduct technical analysis supportingnetwork security planning and engineering.
  
• Review connectivity, website-blocking,and firewall-rule requests to identify potential security risks.
  
• Analyze on-premises and cloud networksfor potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  
• Develop and review network trafficreports to identify violations involving approved ports, protocols, andservices.
  
• Monitor emerging cyber threats andrecommend appropriate countermeasures.
  
• Collaborate with agency teams toimplement and maintain appropriate security controls.
  
• Support cloud and on-premises networkchanges, enhancements, and security projects.
  
• Help maintain compliance with ARC-AMPE,HIPAA, and SCDIS-200 requirements.
  
• Assist with security KPI development,reporting, and trend monitoring.
  
• Participate in firewall configurationreviews and ruleset recertification.
  
• Provide network and cybersecuritybest-practice guidance to technical teams.
  
• Perform additional Security OperationsCenter (SOC) responsibilities as assigned.
  

Requirements

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalentprofessional experience.
  
• A network/security-focused certification,such as PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer) orCCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  

Required Skills:

• Approximately 3–5 years of hands-onexperience in network design, implementation, or support.
  
• Hands-on experience in IT security orsystem administration.
  
• Working knowledge of secure networkdesign and security architecture.
  
• Knowledge of security compliance tools,data protection, and access-control models.
  
• Ability to analyze and interpret securitylogs, alerts, and network telemetry.
  
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in regulatedenvironments.
  
• Experience supporting Health IT and/orstate government environments.
  
• Familiarity with FISMA, NIST, CMSARC-AMPE, and HIPAA security and privacy standards.
  
• Experience with cloud network securitycontrols, particularly in Microsoft Azure or AWS environments
  
• CISSP or Security+
