Job summary

Cogent Infotech Pvt. Ltd. seeks a Network Security Analyst to support day-to-day security operations in a large enterprise. The role is hands-on, reporting to a SOC Lead, and covers incident response, risk assessment, and compliance tasks across on-prem and cloud environments.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of network design, implementation, or support experience plus IT security or systems administration background. A security-focused degree and relevant certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to daily network security alerts.
• Perform security assessments for firewall and infrastructure changes.
• Analyze network traffic, logs, alerts, and telemetry for threats.
• Review firewall rules, connectivity, website-blocking, and access requests.
• Analyze on-premises and cloud networks for threats and vulnerabilities.
• Review network traffic against approved ports, protocols, and services.
• Participate in firewall configuration reviews and recertification.
• Support network security and compliance initiatives.
• Assist with cloud and on-prem network changes.
• Monitor emerging threats and recommend countermeasures.
• Collaborate with technical teams to implement security controls.
• Support KPI development and security monitoring.
• Help ensure compliance with HIPAA, NIST, CMS ARC-AMPE, and security standards.
• Perform additional SOC and network security responsibilities as assigned.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Network Security Analyst to support day-to-day network security and cybersecurity operations for a large enterprise environment. This is a hands-on technical position reporting to a SOC Lead, with responsibility for investigating network alerts, assessing security risks, supporting network changes, and helping maintain compliance with security standards.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of network design, implementation, or support experience, combined with hands-on IT security or systems administration experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate and respond to daily network security alerts.
• Perform security assessments for proposed firewall and infrastructure changes.
• Analyze network traffic, logs, alerts, and telemetry for potential threats.
• Review firewall rules, connectivity, website-blocking, and access requests for security risks.
• Analyze on-premises and cloud networks for potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Review network traffic against approved ports, protocols, and services.
• Participate in firewall configuration reviews and ruleset recertification.
• Support network security and compliance initiatives.
• Assist with cloud and on-premises network changes and enhancement projects.
• Monitor emerging threats and recommend appropriate security countermeasures.
• Collaborate with technical teams to implement security controls and best practices.
• Support KPI development, trend reporting, and security monitoring.
• Help ensure compliance with applicable HIPAA, NIST, FISMA, CMS ARC-AMPE, and security standards.
• Perform additional SOC and network security responsibilities as assigned.

Required Technical Skills

• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in network design, implementation, or support.
• Experience with IT security or system administration.
• Knowledge of secure network design and security architecture.
• Experience with routing and switching.
• Knowledge of enterprise firewalls and network security controls.
• Experience with network auditing and security monitoring.
• Knowledge of IDS/IPS platforms.

Required Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• A network-security-focused certification such as PCNSE or CCNA.

Preferred Qualifications

• CISSP or Security+
• Experience working in regulated environments.
• Experience supporting health IT or government environments.
• Knowledge of FISMA, NIST, CMS ARC-AMPE, and HIPAA security/privacy standards.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud network security controls.
