Position Description

Take the lead in supporting a mission-critical Department of Defense network as the Team Lead for the DCP Solution Design Team. You will guide a team of professionals supporting the DISN Consolidated Provisioning effort in Columbus, Ohio, playing a key role in delivering reliable network services to mission partners.

In this leadership position, you will oversee the day-to-day execution of solution design activities while mentoring team members, coordinating priorities, and ensuring high-quality, timely results throughout the provisioning lifecycle. You will apply your knowledge of order entry, order preparation, solution design, circuit activation, Quality of Service (QoS), commercial leasing, and facilities engineering to help your team navigate complex requirements and successfully move service orders from design through implementation.

You will have the opportunity to combine technical expertise with hands-on leadership by assigning and balancing workloads, reviewing solution designs, resolving challenges, managing escalations, and collaborating directly with government and contractor stakeholders. Your leadership will help streamline provisioning activities, improve service delivery, and ensure accurate and timely release of service orders.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the functionality, efficiency, and availability of the DISN network infrastructure, supporting the communications capabilities that Department of Defense mission partners rely on every day.

  • Lead and manage daily Solution Design Team operations, including assigning and prioritizing workloads based on customer priorities, mission impact, service order suspense dates, aging, dependencies, and performance expectations. Coordinate schedules, coverage, leave planning, team rosters, and other administrative requirements to maintain effective staffing and continuity of operations.
  • Provide technical leadership across the DISN provisioning lifecycle, maintaining expert knowledge of Solution Design functions and a strong understanding of order entry, order preparation, circuit activation, QoS configuration, commercial leasing, and facilities engineering. Direct the development and implementation of physical and logical network solutions and provide hands-on technical support and backup coverage as needed.
  • Oversee the development, review, and maintenance of solution design documentation and service order artifacts, including network path reservations, DoDIN and commercial leased transport, preliminary and final designs, configuration changes, MCLs, CTPs, workprints, schematics, and technical specifications. Ensure designs align with DISA programs, engineering standards, transport requirements, mission objectives, and applicable technical guidance.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and timely completion of Solution Design work products by reviewing designs and service orders for technical accuracy, completeness, process compliance, and required QoS information. Ensure orders and dependencies are accurately maintained in government-provided repositories and released within established timelines.
  • Identify, manage, and resolve technical and operational impediments, including Engineering Hot List items, Held in Abeyance (HIA) items, capacity constraints, blocked orders, aging work, and network infrastructure issues across classified and non-classified CAN, MAN, and WAN environments. Determine root causes, establish recovery actions, track commitments, and elevate mission-critical issues when necessary.
  • Coordinate with government personnel, contractors, customers, carriers, vendors, and cross-functional provisioning teams to define requirements, validate technical solutions, resolve design and administrative issues, and ensure effective handoffs throughout the provisioning lifecycle. Facilitate meetings, engineering reviews, workload reviews, and operational syncs while tracking actions, decisions, priorities, and commitments.
  • Monitor team performance and drive continuous improvement by tracking workload, production, backlog, aging, quality trends, schedule adherence, release timeliness, rework, and other operational metrics. Provide status, risk, issue, and performance reporting to DCP leadership and identify recurring defects, process gaps, workflow inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve design quality, cycle time, inventory accuracy, and mission effectiveness.
  • Develop and support Solution Design Team personnel while ensuring organizational compliance, including coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, cross-training, onboarding and off‑boarding, required training and certification tracking, staffing support, interviews, employee development, recognition, and performance discussions.
