Job summary

Softheon Inc is seeking a Network Manager to lead and hands-on manage our network infrastructure across on-prem and cloud environments. You will troubleshoot complex issues, implement network solutions, and drive improvements while guiding the network team and coordinating with security and infrastructure peers.

The role requires strong leadership, continuous availability beyond 9-5, and a focus on reliability, security, and performance aligned with our standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years in network engineering/administration.
  • Experience leading a technical or network team (1+ year).
  • Hands-on with enterprise networks on-prem and cloud.
  • Experience with network monitoring and incident response.

Responsibilities

  • Own design, architecture, and health of Softheon’s network infrastructure.
  • Manage on-prem and cloud network environments.
  • Configure, implement, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks.
  • Lead network team, set priorities, mentor staff, conduct 1-on-1s.
  • Oversee on-call rotation and after-hours incident response.
  • Maintain network documentation and diagrams.
  • Lead network projects and improvements across teams.

About the Role

The Network Manager is a hands-on technical and people leader responsible for managing and maintaining Softheon's network infrastructure. This role combines day-to-day network engineering and operational responsibilities with team leadership, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of network systems across on-premises and cloud environments.

The Network Manager will work directly in the network environment, troubleshooting complex issues, implementing network solutions, supporting projects, and identifying opportunities for improvement. This role will lead and develop network team members while partnering with Infrastructure, Security, and other teams to ensure network services meet organizational needs.

Please note that the requirements of this role are beyond the 9am - 6pm scope. It is expected that all leadersareavailable to the organization when needed.

You Will:

Network Operations & Engineering
  • Own the design, architecture, and overall health of Softheon’s network infrastructure, proactively identifying and addressing risks, capacity needs, and opportunities for improvement; operate with a high degree of autonomy and serve as the primary technical owner, escalating critical issues to leadership as needed.
  • Manage and maintain Softheon's network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Configure, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and related technologies.
  • Perform hands-on network configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity and proactively address potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents and service interruptions.
  • Participate in critical incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Perform regular network maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of network monitoring and management tools.
  • Ensure network infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and aligned with established technical and security standards.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Manage and provide day-to-day leadership to network team members.
  • Assign work, establish priorities, and monitor progress to ensure network activities and projects are completed effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members when troubleshooting complex network issues.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, provide feedback, and support employee development.
  • Promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, accountability, and effective communication within the network team.
  • Establish and maintain team processes and procedures that support efficient network operations.
  • Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for the network team.
  • Manage and oversee the team’s on-call rotation, ensuring appropriate coverage, clear escalation procedures, and timely response to after-hours network incidents.
Network Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain network security controls in partnership with the Security Team.
  • Configure and maintain firewalls, VPNs, access controls, network segmentation, and other network security technologies.
  • Identify, investigate, and address network vulnerabilities and security risks.
  • Support security assessments, audits, and remediation activities related to network infrastructure.
  • Ensure network changes and configurations follow established security, compliance, and change management requirements.
  • Support compliance requirements related to network infrastructure and organizational security standards.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and participate in network infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.
  • Support network upgrades, migrations, implementations, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Evaluate network technologies and solutions to improve reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive network processes and improve operational workflows.
  • Develop and implement improvements to network processes, documentation, and procedures.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and other technical teams on cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and prioritizing network-related projects based on organizational and operational needs.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Work with network technology vendors and service providers to troubleshoot issues and support network initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert for network technologies, vendors, and solutions, providing technical leadership and recommendations for network procurement, vendor selection, and technology investments.
  • Lead network procurement activities, including evaluating solutions and vendors, defining technical requirements, conducting technical assessments, negotiating technical considerations, and making recommendations to ensure solutions meet Softheon’s operational, security, scalability, and business needs.
  • Monitor vendor performance and escalation issues as needed.
  • Communicate network issues, risks, project updates, and recommendations to Infrastructure leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Partner with other technical teams to ensure network solutions effectively support organizational requirements.
Talent Management
  • Collaborate with the Talent team to actively engage in the hiring and recruitment process, including but not limited to participating in interviews.
  • Leverage industry networks and expertise to identify and attract top talent that aligns with the company's objectives and values.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members within your department and across diverse functions.
  • Play an integral role in shaping and reinforcing the overall company culture, promoting values that enhance teamwork, collaboration, and employee engagement.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Own and participate in the team’s 24/7 network support and on-call operations, including developing team capabilities, establishing and managing the on-call rotation, ensuring appropriate coverage and escalation procedures, and personally responding to network issues and critical incidents as part of the on-call rotation.
  • Although we work in a remote-first environment, all roles require in-person attendance at our headquarters approximately 2 times per year (in addition to other travel requirements for this specific role, if applicable). These visits are essential for team collaboration, strategic planning, and fostering deeper connections across the organization. Travel arrangements will be supported to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Must reside in the Eastern or Central time zone. Must be located in one of the following states: AL, AR, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA , MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, WA, WI
  • 10% travel may be required
You Have
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
Experience
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in network engineering, network administration, or a related network infrastructure role.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing, supervising, or leading a technical or network team.
  • Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting network projects, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and critical incident response.
Required Certifications
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) — required prior to employment.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) — required prior to employment.
Preferred Certifications
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • Microsoft Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
  • Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900)
  • Other relevant networking or security certifications.
Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking technologies and NGINX.
  • Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, network security, and network segmentation.
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking, particularly Azure and/or AWS.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Required: Hands-on experience with Cisco Firepower and ASA firewalls.
  • Required: Experience with Dell OS10 and SonicOS networking platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience with NGINX.
  • Preferred: Experience with Cloudflare.

What We Offer

Softheon offers every full-time employee a comprehensive compensation and benefits packageincluding:

  • For this position we offer a base pay of $122,000- $140,000 plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation, and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as candidate location, qualifications, skill level, and competencies.
