Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Analyze local and wide area network systems to plan, design, and evaluate network build solutions.
  • Prepare Engineering Work Orders for new construction, upgrades, fiber deployments, and network augmentation projects.
  • Design outside plant fiber solutions using 3GIS, AutoCAD/CAD systems, Site Tracker, Ivalua, and Microsoft Office.
  • Own assigned Outside Plant engineering activities within a designated geographic area.
  • Coordinate project requirements with vendors, developers, property owners, customers, contractors, and municipal entities.
  • Research and secure required permits, approvals, easements, and other authorizations needed for network construction.
  • Review construction drawings, redlines, field information, and project documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and update network records, maps, databases, and engineering documentation to ensure data integrity.
  • Support Network Implementation Engineers II and Senior Engineers with design, permitting, and project delivery activities.
  • Communicate project status, design requirements, issues, and schedule impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process invoices, validate financial documentation, and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage multiple assignments while meeting quality, schedule, and service expectations.

Job description

Our client is a fast-growing fiber telecommunications company expanding high-performance broadband networks across residential, commercial, and community markets. The company is committed to delivering reliable fiber connectivity through innovative engineering, efficient project execution, and strong partnerships with customers, municipalities, vendors, and property stakeholders.

Position Summary

The Network Implementation Engineer will support the design and delivery of network deployment projects, including new builds, network upgrades, fiber-to-the-node (FTTN), fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), and network augmentation initiatives. This role prepares accurate Engineering Work Orders, develops outside plant solutions, maintains network records, and supports the permitting process for projects within an assigned geographic area. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, technically capable, and eager to grow within a collaborative telecommunications engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in engineering, telecommunications, construction, or a related field; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • One to three years of experience in telecommunications, OSP engineering, network planning, fiber design, permitting, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of engineering, mapping, or network design systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and redline markups.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with 3GIS, AutoCAD, Site Tracker, Ivalua, or similar OSP engineering and project management systems.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic network construction, FTTH, FTTN, aerial, underground, and buried plant design.
  • Experience coordinating permits with municipalities, utilities, developers, property owners, or transportation agencies.
  • Knowledge of outside plant engineering standards, right-of-way requirements, and construction practices.
  • Experience reviewing vendor deliverables, field notes, construction drawings, or redlines.

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
