Job summary

Sharp Brains is seeking an experienced Network Field Engineer / Smart Hands Technician for an onsite Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controller deployment in Chattanooga, TN. This 1099 contractor role requires hands-on installation, rack and stack, cabling, and field support.

The ideal candidate will work with enterprise networks, perform basic testing, coordinate with remote engineers, and document progress with updates and photos.

Qualifications

• Stage and prepare equipment prior to deployment.
• Rack, install, and cable Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs).
• Perform power, fiber, and Ethernet cross-connects.
• Verify switch port availability and physical connectivity.
• Install SFP modules, fiber patch cords, and Ethernet cables.
• Support remote engineers during implementation and cutover activities.
• Validate installation and perform basic network connectivity testing.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and network connectivity issues.
• Remove, label, package, and prepare legacy network equipment for return shipment (when required).
• Provide regular onsite updates, documentation, and completion photos.
