Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly Security Clearance.
  • Security+ Certification.
  • BS/BA in a related field or higher; 8+ years experience, or MS/MA with 6+ years; 12 years experience can substitute.
  • Experience developing Zabbix templates for network monitoring.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IOS-XE and NX-OS routers and switches.
  • Experience with EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF protocols.
  • Experience applying Cisco security configurations per DISA STIGs; VLAN, IPsec, and DMVPN.
  • Experience scripting with Expect, Bash, and Python.
  • Experience with Ansible playbooks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan network enhancements and upgrades for a large, worldwide enterprise.
  • Design changes to network communications systems and prepare schematics.
  • Provide Tier 2 support to troubleshoot outages and outages in enterprise networks.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analyses for hardware/software selections.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and shell scripts for config and auditing.
  • Configure monitoring tools for VM, switch/router, and data center hardware.
  • Serve as SME for network tools like Zabbix and TACACS+ server.
  • Maintain DISA STIG compliance on Cisco devices.
  • Track initiatives using Jira within an Agile Scrum team.

About The Role

Peraton has an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer to join our team in Landover, MD. Our program provides lifecycle support for a large Information Technology (IT) network supporting a Department of Defense (DoD) customer.

This program delivers full life-cycle engineering support for all system elements including Development (hardware, software and networking), Systems and Security Engineering (Integration, Testing and Deployment), Sustainment (Logistics, and Field Support), Network Operations Center (NOC)/Help Desk, and training support for the user community.

Responsibilities
  • Plan the implementation of enhancements and upgrades to routers/switches for a large, worldwide enterprise network.
  • Design and plan changes to network communications systems as required.
  • Provide specifications and develop detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provide Tier 2 level support to Operations to troubleshoot and resolve enterprise networking outages or technical issues.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis and provide specific detailed information to the customer for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet program mission needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, Unix shell scripts, and batch scripts for configuration and auditing of network routers and switches.
  • Configure and maintain tools for enterprise-wide network monitoring of VMs, switches/routers, and datacenter hardware using scripts and SNMP/IPMI protocols.
  • Serve as local subject matter expert for network administration and monitoring tools, such as Zabbix and TACACS+ server.
  • Track initiatives and tasks using Jira as a contributor to an Agile Scrum team.
  • Configure and maintain DISA STIG compliance on Cisco router and switch network devices.

** This role is required to provide onsite support, Monday - Friday **

** The program does allow for a flexible work schedule and is located within walking distance from a Metro station **

Required Qualifications
  • An active/current TS/SCI /w Poly Security Clearance.
  • A current/valid Security+ Certification.
  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA or minimum of 6 years with MS/MA, or 12 years of applicable work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Experience with developing Zabbix templates for network monitoring.
  • Experience working with configuring and troubleshooting Cisco IOS-XE and NX-OS routers and switches.
  • Experience working with EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF Protocols, including authentication and route distribution.
  • Experience with Cisco zone-based firewalls, Access Controls Lists, IPSEC tunnels, Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) and VLAN separation.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Expect, Bash, and Python.
  • Experience with Ansible playbooks.
  • Experience applying security configurations to Cisco networking devices according to DISA STIGs.
Desired Qualifications
  • A current/valid CCNA and/or CCNP Certification.
  • Experience with Jira, Zabbix, and TACACS+.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum teams.

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
