Position Overview
We are seeking a mid-level Network Engineer to join an enterprise infrastructure and network services team. This position is ideal for an engineer with strong networking fundamentals who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, configuration, upgrades, and supporting complex network environments.
The Network Engineer will support day-to-day network operations across data centers, corporate locations, and a large distributed network environment. This role provides broad exposure to enterprise networking technologies and an opportunity to continue developing technical expertise alongside an experienced engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day enterprise network operations and resolve network-related incidents and service requests.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and related network technologies.
- Create and manage VLANs, trunk ports, switching configurations, and network segmentation.
- Perform firmware, software, and code upgrades across network infrastructure.
- Review running and saved configurations and troubleshoot configuration-related issues.
- Execute network changes, including verification, rollback, and change-management procedures.
- Troubleshoot routing, switching, connectivity, wireless, and firewall-related issues.
- Provide advanced escalation support for complex networking problems.
- Support enterprise data center, corporate, and multi-site network environments.
- Assist with monitoring, alerting, network performance, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
- Coordinate with telecommunications carriers and technology vendors to troubleshoot circuit and infrastructure issues.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and an on-call rotation as required.
- Continue developing expertise across networking technologies, security platforms, wireless infrastructure, and network automation.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 4-7 years of hands-on network engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
- TCP/IP and the OSI model
- IP addressing and subnetting
- Routing and switching
- VLANs and trunking
- Spanning Tree
- DHCP and DNS
- Hands-on experience configuring enterprise switches through CLI.
- Experience creating VLANs, configuring trunk ports, and implementing network changes.
- Experience performing firmware or software upgrades on network equipment.
- Ability to read, review, and troubleshoot network configurations.
- Experience troubleshooting network issues in a production environment.
- Working knowledge of firewall policies and network security fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Self-motivated, curious, and interested in learning new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Aruba switching and/or wireless technologies.
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies.
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls.
- Experience with Juniper/Junos networking platforms.
- Exposure to SD-WAN technologies such as VeloCloud, Viptela, Silver Peak, or similar.
- Experience supporting large, distributed, or multi-site network environments.
- Enterprise wireless experience, including 802.11 and 802.1X.
- Data center networking experience.
- Familiarity with packet capture and network analysis tools.
- Exposure to routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
- Experience with network monitoring and observability platforms.
- Exposure to network automation using Python, Ansible, APIs, or similar technologies.
Certifications & Education
- CCNA or equivalent networking experience preferred.
- Other relevant certifications may include JNCIA/JNCIS, Aruba certifications, Network+, or CCNP.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree, technical training, or relevant certifications preferred.
- A bachelor's degree is not required.
