Job summary

Vulcan Elements in Benson, NC seeks a Network Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain the network infrastructure across office and manufacturing facilities. You will ensure secure, reliable, high-performance connectivity for IT and OT environments in a regulated setting.

The role requires hands-on expertise with Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti UniFi, strong knowledge of NIST 800-171 and CMMC controls, and experience with OT/IT convergence, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of network engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing or govern­ment-regulated environments.
• Hands-on OT/IT converged network design experience.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols and PLC/SCADA networks.
• Strong knowledge of NIST 800-171 and CMMC controls.
• Experience supporting federal contractors or DoD programs is preferred.
• Solid routing and switching fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, VLANs).
• Ability to diagnose complex issues across IT and OT with minimal downtime.
• Willingness to perform physical tasks in manufacturing settings.
• Preferred certifications: CCNA/CCNP, Meraki ECMS, CompTIA Network+/Security+.

Responsibilities

• Network Design and Deployment across LAN/WAN/WLAN.
• OT Network Management and segmentation.
• Security and Compliance alignment with NIST and CMMC.
• Firewall and segmentation management.
• Monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
• VPN and Remote Access administration.
• Documentation of diagrams, baselines, SSPs.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Engineering and Operations.
• Support for audits and government contract reviews.
