Job summary

Trace3 in Colorado Springs is seeking a Network Engineer III to support enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN design, troubleshooting, and optimization. You will collaborate with senior engineers on network design and ensure reliable connectivity across environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on routing, firewall, and multi-vendor experience, plus DoD security practices and a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship and valid passport.
  • CCNA or JNCIA certification or willingness to attain within 60 days of starting.
  • Hands-on network engineering experience with design, development, and testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience with network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Firewall experience with Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto technologies.
  • Experience with UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE, and TCP/IP designs.
  • Multi-vendor switching/routing (Juniper & Cisco), WAN optimizers, TACLANEs, and optical transport.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; proficiency with MS Office (PowerPoint, Visio).

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) from Cisco and Juniper.
  • Monitor performance and availability; resolve connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues.
  • Implement and support VLANs, OSPF, BGP, and basic network security controls.
  • Troubleshoot incidents across LAN/WAN; perform root cause analysis and document resolutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams for network changes and upgrades.
  • Travel to remote locations to lead installations and provide status updates.
  • Support after-hours activities as needed.
  • Perform additional program tasks as required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Network Engineer III will support the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure for the program. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable connectivity across LAN/WAN environments while collaborating with senior engineers on network design and optimization. The ideal candidate brings strong networking fundamentals and a hands‑on approach to supporting production environments.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper Networks.
  • Monitor network performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues.
  • Implement and support core networking technologies including VLANs, routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, and basic network security controls.
  • Troubleshoot network incidents across LAN/WAN environments, performing root cause analysis and documenting resolutions.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional IT teams to support network changes, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
  • Travel to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently perform troubleshooting, and provide status updates to program personnel.
  • Support critical activities outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Perform additional tasks as required by the program.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must be a US Citizen and maintain a valid US passport.
  • Must possess a CCNA or JNCIA certification or be willing to attain within 60 days of starting
  • Proven network engineering experience with hands‑on knowledge of network design, development, and testing methodologies.
  • Understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
  • Experience with network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands‑on firewall experience, specifically with Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto technologies.
  • Experience with UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.
  • Hands‑on experience with multi‑vendor switching and routing environments including Juniper and Cisco platforms, WAN optimizers, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience with Foundation, NSX, vSAN, and Aria technologies.
  • Experience with network automation using Ansible.
  • Understanding of standard DoD security practices including STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts.
  • Prior experience supporting the program.

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base salary.

Estimated Pay Range: $105,000 USD - $122,500 USD
