Job summary

Advantech Solutions, LLC is seeking a Network Engineer II to support mission-critical USSOCOM network operations across enterprise, tactical, and global transport environments. The role requires Cisco-based networking, troubleshooting, and 24/7/365 support for headquarters, regional, remote, and forward-deployed users.

Qualifications

  • Active, in-scope U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to contract and security requirements.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting complex routed and switched network environments.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking technologies.
  • Working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, multicast, VLANs, QoS, VPNs, and related enterprise networking technologies.
  • Experience using network monitoring, packet analysis, logging, and troubleshooting tools to identify and resolve network issues.
  • Experience performing fault isolation, root-cause analysis, and restoration of mission-critical network services.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7/365 operational environment, including shift work as required.
  • Ability to travel worldwide, including remote and austere locations. Individual deployments or trips may extend up to two months, with multiple trips possible during the year.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to engineering teams, operators, leadership, and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier II network engineering and operational support for enterprise, tactical, and transport network infrastructure.
  • Support 24/7/365 Network Operations Center (NOC) activities and global mission operations.
  • Monitor network health, availability, capacity, and performance and respond to service-impacting incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and restore network services across routed, switched, terrestrial, wireless, RF, and satellite communications environments.
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and validate Cisco-based network infrastructure.
  • Support routing and switching technologies including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VLANs, multicast, QoS, and VPN technologies.
  • Perform packet analysis, log analysis, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis for complex network incidents.
  • Identify causes of network outages, latency, packet loss, routing issues, performance degradation, and service disruptions.
  • Support ISR transport architectures and associated data transport systems to maintain reliable delivery of mission data.
  • Coordinate incident response and troubleshooting activities with NOCs, engineering teams, service delivery organizations, government stakeholders, and OEM partners.

Position Overview

Advantech Solutions is seeking an experienced Network Engineer II to support mission-critical network and communications operations for U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and its mission partners. The Network Engineer II will provide Tier II network engineering, operations, troubleshooting, and sustainment support across enterprise, tactical, and global transport network environments. The position supports a 24/7/365 operational mission and requires the ability to diagnose and restore complex network services supporting headquarters, regional, remote, and forward-deployed users. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies, routed and switched networks, network monitoring and troubleshooting, and DoD communications environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Tier II network engineering and operational support for enterprise, tactical, and transport network infrastructure
  • Support 24/7/365 Network Operations Center (NOC) activities and global mission operations
  • Monitor network health, availability, capacity, and performance and respond to service-impacting incidents
  • Troubleshoot and restore network services across routed, switched, terrestrial, wireless, RF, and satellite communications environments
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and validate Cisco-based network infrastructure
  • Support routing and switching technologies including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, VLANs, multicast, QoS, and VPN technologies
  • Perform packet analysis, log analysis, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis for complex network incidents
  • Identify causes of network outages, latency, packet loss, routing issues, performance degradation, and service disruptions

  • Coordinate incident response and troubleshooting activities with NOCs, engineering teams, service delivery organizations, government stakeholders, and OEM partners
  • Support commissioning, integration, configuration, testing, acceptance, and fielding of new communications systems and network capabilities
  • Provide technical support to personnel operating from headquarters, regional hubs, remote sites, and forward-deployed locations
  • Participate in preventive maintenance, system upgrades, technology refreshes, lifecycle replacements, and network modernization activities
  • Assist with capacity planning, network optimization, performance tuning, and infrastructure modernization
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, configuration documentation, technical procedures, SOPs, configuration baselines, and knowledge repositories
  • Prepare operational reports, technical assessments, incident and outage summaries, root-cause findings, and status briefings
  • Coordinate technical activities with network engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, field support, and program management teams
  • Support Information Assurance (IA), Risk Management Framework (RMF), DISA STIG implementation, vulnerability remediation, and cybersecurity compliance requirements
  • Participate in site surveys, installation activities, acceptance testing, and field troubleshooting when required
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or austere environments, in support of mission requirements

  • Experience supporting DoD global network operations or mission-critical communications environments
  • Knowledge of ISR mission systems, sensor transport architectures, and tactical data transport networks
  • Experience supporting terrestrial, SATCOM, RF, and tactical communications environments
  • Experience supporting OCONUS operations, remote sites, or forward-deployed users
  • Experience supporting network modernization, technology refresh, and lifecycle management initiativesFamiliarity with DoD cybersecurity, RMF, DISA STIGs, and Information Assurance requirements
  • Prior military service or previous experience supporting Department of Defense customers
